EDF Energies Nouvelles acquiring offshore wind O&M firm
From Renewables Now
EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) on Wednesday said it is acquiring German offshore wind operations and maintenance (O&M) firm Offshore Wind Solutions GmbH (OWS).
The target company has an Operations Control Center for offshore wind in Emden, which is located close to “numerous North Sea offshore wind farms”, EDF EN noted. It has just renewed for 10 years an O&M contract for the 400-MW BARD Offshore 1 wind farm in the German North Sea, owned by Breeze Energy.
OWS’ 188 experts will join EDF EN subsidiary Reetec GmbH, which until now has been involved mostly in onshore and offshore wind installation. The combined team will thus surpass 350.
EDF EN is the renewables arm of French utility EDF SA (EPA:EDF).
“This deal is a good opportunity for the EDF Group which has strong ambitions in the offshore wind project development [..],” said EDF EN CEO Antoine Cahuzac.
